Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life–John 6:68

The way of salvation, the path we must walk in order to be saved eternally is not determined by popularity, feelings, parents, public acceptance or from manuals and creeds of human beings. The way of salvation is found only in the words sent to us from God through his son (John 17:8; Hebrews 1:1-2). These words are spirit and life to us (John 6:63). These are words of life and beauty that offer peace and pardon to all who are willing to adhere to them. These are the words that are able to build us up and make our calling and election sure if we hold fast to themĀ  (Acts 20:32; Ephesians 6:10-18; 2 Peter 1:5-11; 2 Timothy 1:13; Hebrews 2:1-3; James 1:21).

It is sad to think that these words of eternal life will be of no benefit to countless numbers of people because they will stumble at themĀ  and simply walk away as did the disciples in John 6. Still others will corrupt these pure words of eternal life by thinking they can improve on them through addition, subtraction or substitution (2 Corinthians 2:17; Galatians 1:6-9). Then there are those who through traditions of men will make void the words of eternal life (Matthew 15:9). The truth that brings eternal life is hidden to many people because they choose to willfully blind themselves to that truth by allowing the god of this world to blind their minds rather than let the beauty of God’s word be a lamp unto their feet and a a light unto their path (1 Peter 5:8; James 4:4; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; Psalms 119:105). Others will say to themselves, “there is time enough yet, one day I intend to…….(2 Cor.6:2; James 4:14; Proverbs 27:1).

The truth of God’s word endures forever and following that word will lead us to that house not made with human hands (John 14:1-3; 2 Corinthians 5:1; Psalms 117:1-2; Hebrews 6:17-20).
