Vacation Bible School is one of the most encouraging activities that we do as a congregation throughout the year. Granted there is an extensive amount of work that goes into a good VBS, but the benefits are far worth all of our combined efforts to provide such an activity. By the way, so many in the church see VBS as just for kids, but it is also for adults as well. Below are some thoughts about the importance of VBS for our congregation and for the community around us.
VBS is a time of special focused energy by a great number of members of our congregation. It is important for us to work together!
VBS is a time of special learning in specific areas for our children. They need times like these with special teaching from God’s Word!
VBS is a time of illustrated teaching for our children. There is probably more effort put into “Bible scenes”, room decorations, and wall decorations during this time than any other time of the year. Our kids need Bible teaching to “come to life!”
VBS is a time of special crafts, activities, and such, that support focused teaching of biblical lessons to be learned by our children. They need that!
VBS is a time of reaching out to others. There are most likely more visitors during VBS than at all other activities combined throughout the entire year. We need the personal contacts that VBS provides!
VBS is a time of singing, teaching, learning, and encouragement for our kids (and us adults) over a 5-day period that is unique. There is not another time during the year that equates to it!
VBS is a time of biblical focus for our kids unlike anything else we do throughout the year. They need more biblical focus!
VBS is a time of such intense training for our children that stays with them. No doubt we will see the effect of such a VBS in our children for days, weeks, and months to come. They need that kind of lasting impression!
VBS is a time of focused teaching for adults as well. They will get just as much teaching as one would by attending a Gospel Meeting!
VBS is a time of influence for visitors. Many will hear the truth of God’s Word taught for five straight nights. VBS is often a “first impression” of the Lord’s church on them and some may come back!
